3 years into the crisis, Darfur is acknowledged to be a human rights tragedy. The humanitarian, security and political situation continue to deteriorate: people are dying in large numbers from malnutrition and disease, and a new famine is feared. According to reports by the World Food Program, the United Nations, and the Coalition for International Justice, 3.5 million are hungry, 2.5 million are displaced due to violence, and 400,000 people have died in Darfur so far. To show our support for Darfur's victims, we are asking you to enter this site and sign your email to this letter below which we are sending to the White House, the UN and members of congress:

"Mr. President, Vice President Cheney, members of congress;
The Torah commands us not to stand idly by the blood of our brothers and sisters. Our silence and indifference towards the suffering of innocent victims is as lethal as the murderous acts of the perpetrators. All people are created in the image of God, and are equally entitled to life, liberty, and dignity. As Jews, we are painfully aware of the meaning of genocide, and the importance of shouting 'Never Again'.
We appeal to you to take all possible measures to alleviate the suffering of Darfur's innocent victims. The U.S. is a nation of justice and compassion, which has the historic opportunity to become a champion of these oppressed people. We believe it is a vital, national imperative to sustain a program of meaningful, effective measures to end Darfur's suffering."

This past Sunday was the Washington D.C. Rally for Darfur. Many of us could not attend. Mesora.org has launched this website so Jews and all people of concern may show support by signing our petition to protect the victims. Our numbers, as well as our petition, will be forwarded to the White House, to the UN, members congress and Jewish organizations worldwide. Please enter the site at right, and sign your email.

Thank you.
